  • What to wear for an engagement party

I'm engaged! we are making a small party to celebrate this with close family and friends but I have no idea about what to wear.
I don't want to wear a big gown, i don't have the money to buy one and I want to keep it simple... but special!
I don't think that white is a good idea but... why not? It's on september 26 i don't know what the weather will be like... It going to be buffet, maybe outside we don't know yet...

I need your ideas all of them!
should I wear a dress? pastel colors? Bright colors?

Oh, you should definitely wear a dress! Trousers seem too casual, and if you wear a skirt, you risk looking less eye-catching than one of the guests!

I think a nice long, elegant dress. :) Maybe something like this:

Nothing too puffy or big, save that for the wedding. :D Just something pretty, and to keep the limelight on yourself.

And I don't think bright colours, like yellow or something. Something nice like red or beige, that would be cute.

Anyway, congratulations! I am so happy for you. :)

the dress above may be too bold and out there. it is an engagemnt party so i do not think you should wear a red dress. itll makes you seem too sinful in a way. lol

i like an elegant off white color, like this: http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=prod90540006&ecid=NMCIBizrateFeed&srccode=cii_10043468&cpncode=19-28701276-2

Maybe a brown or a grey dress, a color that you don't wear a lot but that can be nice.

I have pick up some ideas on french websites :

    1. This (notthe black one, the blue/grey) + a nice belt (silver or black), leggins or tights and some heels, with a nice necklace and something in you hair. so, dgry blue and silver !
Simple, but can be nice !

    2. white dress, not too long but pretty. A bit expensive (45 euros) on pricemin***

3.A long dress I know where to find this in my vity, but don't know in Paris.. Here it's a shop (two in fact) with chinese leaders : not so expensive, lot of choice. (here forthis dress, 40 euros)

Three so different ideas (my favorite is number 2, I think that this dress will be so pretty on you, I fall in love with !).

or this ! Well, not for engagement, but nice dress for everydaylife !

@OhItWontBeForever@xanga - Thank you! I love the color of the dress! I'd like to find something with this color it goes very well with my skin tone.

I bet you will look great anyway, I am sure. :D

Show us the dress that you choose! Yeah, red is a gorgeous colour. It seems to complement a lot of people. :)

Bonne chance et félicitations, ma chere. :D

De rien! Yaaaaay. :D Je l'attends avec impatience! Je vais pratiquer mon Francais avec vous. D'accord? XD

  • Mercredi

L'heure d'aller dormir!
    Bonne nuit!
(tell me if something sounds weird to you lol and if you see something weird in my english you can also tell me.)

  • OhItWontBeForever@xanga

Sure! (how would we say that en Francais?)

J'ai appris le Francais depuis 8 ans, maintenant. Je suis Arabe, mais mon Francais et plus mieux que mon Arabe. :D Haha.

Je m'intéresse a lire au sujet du Francais, so yay!

Ahhhh Pariiiis. <3 Paris me manque vraiment trop!! J'y suis allée en 2008, et c'était la meilleure semaine de ma vie!

Alors, bonne nuit! Fais des beaux reves.

I'd say you should wear a short, red dress. Like I've told you before, red would look great on your complexion; also, it is a bold color.

However, find something that will stand out and make you feel as special as you look.

congrats!!!! i'd suggest a one-piece in pastel colour. maybe lavender

  • funambule@xanga

    Party Time!

Congrats! First your birthday and now an engagement! I think you should go for a mix between casual and formal. Maybe a nice taffeta material for a shiny look, but in a casual cut. If it's going to be buffet, make sure your waistline is unimpeded so you can eat more and not be bursting at the seams, hahaha. I think some frills/lacey bits at the ends would look cute (not sure if that's your style), but I think you should go with your favorite color and accessorize with a complementary second favorite color.

  • Mercredi

@Meowmeowkimmaee@xanga - Thank you! I think i'll try to find something red. or green.. but not both, lol.

  • Meowmeowkimmaee@xanga

@Mercredi - I suggest a darker red or green for a more formal look and a lighter shade for a more casual/summer look.

  • Mercredi

@Meowmeowkimmaee@xanga - yes! I don't want to look like a christmas tree; i think i'll choose dark red. :) and black because the party is the night.
